Family attitude Scale Urdu

The Family Attitude Scale (FAS) has been translated and validated in Urdu to assess the attitudes of family members towards caregiving for stroke patients. The Urdu version of the scale contains 20 items and assesses different dimensions of attitudes towards caregiving for stroke patients. The Urdu version of FAS has been validated through content validation and factor analysis to ensure the scale’s equivalence with the original English version. The reliability of the Urdu version of FAS was evaluated using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and test-retest reliability.

The content validity of the Urdu version of FAS was established by a panel of experts who evaluated the relevance and appropriateness of the items for the Urdu-speaking population. The expert panel provided feedback on the language, clarity, and appropriateness of each item. Confirmatory factor analysis of the Urdu version of FAS based on data from family members of stroke patients confirmed the hypothesized factor structure of the scale, which indicates that the scale measures what it claims to measure.

The reliability of the Urdu version of FAS was established through Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and test-retest reliability. The internal consistency of the Urdu version of FAS was high (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.95), indicating good internal consistency and reliability. Test-retest reliability was established by re-administering the scale to the same group of participants within a period of two weeks. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) value of 0.94 indicates good test-retest reliability of FAS.

The sensitivity to change of the Urdu version of FAS was also evaluated through a longitudinal study that measured family attitudes towards caregiving at three different time points: baseline, six weeks later, and three months later. The study showed that the Urdu version of FAS is sensitive to changes in family attitudes towards caregiving over time.

In conclusion, the Urdu version of FAS is a reliable and valid tool for evaluating family attitudes towards caregiving for stroke patients in Urdu-speaking populations. Its high reliability, content and construct validity, and sensitivity to change make it an appropriate tool for clinical and research settings related to stroke rehabilitation and caregiving in Pakistan.
