Suicide Probability Scale Urdu
The Suicide Probability Scale (SPS) is a standardized self-report measure used to assess an individual’s likelihood of engaging in suicidal behavior. The scale consists of 36 items that address a range of risk factors for suicide, including hopelessness, depression, impulsivity, and anxiety.

The reliability and validity of the SPS are essential to ensuring that it provides accurate and useful information about the individual’s suicide risk. The reliability of the scale can be assessed by analyzing its internal consistency, which measures the correlation between different items in the scale. High internal consistency suggests that the scale measures the same construct consistently across different items. Moreover, the validity of the SPS can be established by examining its construct validity, which involves comparing scores on the scale with other established measures of suicide risk and determining the degree to which they are correlated.
Research has shown that the SPS is a reliable and valid tool for assessing suicide risk in different populations, including adolescents and adults from diverse cultural backgrounds. The scale has been shown to demonstrate high internal consistency and construct validity, and it has been validated against other measures of suicide risk. In addition, the SPS has been used successfully in both clinical and research settings to provide valuable insights into individual suicide risk factors and develop effective prevention and intervention strategies.
Despite the promising results, it is important to note that the SPS alone cannot be used as a stand-alone measure for diagnosing suicidal behavior. Rather, it should be used in conjunction with other assessment tools and clinical evaluations.
