People with strong dominance will be more likely to adopt infiltration and aggressive strategies to seduce already committed person. In contrast, people who bet on their social reputation will use more subtle and attractive strategy to draw attention without direct confrontation.
Heads: Effects and temptation by manipulation
The study analyzed the answers of 559 students on their temptation experiences and their strategies to attract partners as a couple. Prominent individuals are distinguished from a more aggressive perspective: they do not hesitate to discredit the current partner, interfere with the relationship, or to monopolize their goal attention.
His assurance and ability to control give him some success in temptation. In parallel, they also report that when they are in a relationship, they are also described as the goal of temptation efforts.
Distinguished: A more subtle and rewarding approach
People oriented to reputation are also not willing to seduce the committed partners. They favor positive strategies, such as humor, generosity or charisma rather than manipulation.
Although often considered as potential goals for temptation, they seem more resistant to the efforts of “mates illegal”, prioritizing relationships based on mutual attraction and not on infections.
More frequent behavior in men?
The study also highlighted the gender difference: men declare themselves more effective and are more inclined to seduce the partners as a couple, whether it is for a short or longer relationship.
