Trait Emotional Awareness Scale Urdu
The Trait Emotional Awareness Scale (TEAS) is a widely-used psychometric assessment tool that is designed to evaluate an individual’s emotional awareness. The measure focuses on three aspects: attention to feelings, clarity of feelings, and regulation of feelings. The TEAS is intended for use with adults and has been used extensively in research settings to assess emotional awareness in various populations.

Numerous studies have been conducted on the reliability of the TEAS. For instance, a study conducted by Hau and colleagues in 2019 demonstrated high internal consistency with a Cronbach’s alpha of .79 for the overall scale and above .70 for each of the three subscales – attention to feelings, clarity of feelings and regulation of feelings. Additionally, another study conducted by Varghese and colleagues in 2017 showed that the TEAS has high test-retest reliability with a coefficient of .90.
On the other hand, numerous studies have explored the construct validity of TEAS. For instance, a study conducted by Gilbert and colleagues in 2019 showed that the TEAS subscales were positively correlated to resilience and general well-being in college students. Moreover, a study by Garcia-Sancho and colleagues in 2015 found TEAS to be a valid measure of emotional awareness as evidenced by correlations with measures of stress and anxiety.
Overall, the Trait Emotional Awareness Scale is a reliable and valid tool for assessing emotional awareness among adults. The measure has good internal consistency and test-retest reliability, and it has demonstrated construct validity across various populations. Hence, TEAS can be used for both research and clinical purposes.
