Here is THE quality women look for in a partner, according to a new survey

Uncertainty about the future is changing the way we choose a partner. Climate change, financial security, common values: these concerns are now present from the first meetings.

The dating application Bumble reveals a significant trend for 2025, highlighting an essential criterion: the ability to project oneself into the future, or “future-proofing”.

Stability of their partner

According to a study conducted with more than 41,000 users of the application, 95% of singles, men and women combined, believe that their concerns for the future influence their romantic choices. But it is women who are most sensitive to this criterion.

Nearly 59% of them now attach more importance than before to the stability of their partner, whether it is financial security, ecological commitment or professional ambitions. This quest is not limited to implicit expectations: 27% of the women surveyed wish to address these subjects from the first meetings.

Confidence in the face of an uncertain future

The concept of “future-proofing”, borrowed from the world of economics, finds a new resonance here. It initially designates companies that anticipate societal changes to guarantee their sustainability.

Applied to the field of romantic relationships, it reflects a growing need for transparency and trust in the face of a future marked by instability. The shared vision of a life project, once relegated to the advanced stages of a relationship, becomes a priority from the start.

Strong and meaningful relationships

This development illustrates a generational change. Young adults, faced with a complex economic and ecological reality, aspire to strong and meaningful relationships. Far from superficial expectations, this criterion demonstrates increased maturity in relationship management. Discussions on topics like financial management or environmental impact, once seen as unromantic, are becoming markers of engagement.

For men, this trend also offers an opportunity: to rethink their own vision of the future and to show their ability to build a life together based on sustainable values.
