Questionnairs on Sacrifice

Questionnairs on Sacrifice

The “Questionnaires on Sacrifice” is a scale used in the research to measure the variable of interest, specifically sacrifice in marital relationships. In this study, the scale was translated and adapted into Urdu for use in the Pakistani context. The scale was composed of 17 items which were tested for their reliability and validity.

Reliability analyses were conducted using Cronbach’s alpha to ensure consistency and internal reliability of the scale. Phase I of the research, which involved a sample size of 110, yielded a Cronbach’s alpha of .88 for the Sacrifice Scale, which indicates good reliability. Item-total correlations were calculated to determine the strength of the relationship between each item and the total score of the scale. Inter-item correlations were also computed to investigate the association between the different items of the scale. These analyses help to assess the homogeneity of the scale and ensure the reliability of the measures.

Validity analyses were also conducted to verify that the scale adequately measures the construct of interest. Quartiles were calculated to determine the cut-off scores for the scale, and chi-square analyses were performed to identify the items of the scale that discriminate high and low scoring sacrifice groups. Factor analyses were conducted to explore the underlying dimensions of the construct of sacrifice.

In Phase II of the research, which involved a larger sample size of 308, the Sacrifice Scale was combined with the Harm to Self Scale to measure the prevalence of sacrifice and harm to self in marital relationships. The relationship between gender and the two measured constructs was also investigated.

Overall, the Questionnaires on Sacrifice in this study demonstrated adequate reliability and validity, ensuring that the measures were consistent, internally reliable, and accurately represented the construct of sacrifice in marital relationships among Pakistani couples.
