Social Situations Generated Empirically Through in Depth Interviews Urdu
The SSEGID is a qualitative method in which participants are presented with a series of social situations and are asked to describe their emotional reactions to each situation. These situations were generated from in-depth interviews conducted with participants from diverse backgrounds and with different levels of empathy and emotional awareness. A total of 32 situations were included in the final EES.

The reliability of the SSEGID method was assessed using interrater agreement and test-retest reliability. Four independent raters rated the emotional reactions of participants to the social situations, and high interrater agreement was found. Test-retest reliability was assessed by administering the SSEGID to a subsample of participants twice, with a one-week interval between administrations. The results showed high test-retest reliability, indicating that the SSEGID method is a reliable tool for measuring emotional empathy.
The validity of the SSEGID method was assessed through convergent validity and discriminant validity. Convergent validity was assessed by comparing the EES scores with scores on other empathy measures. The results showed that the EES scores were significantly correlated with scores on other empathy measures, indicating that the EES has convergent validity. Discriminant validity was assessed by comparing the EES scores with scores on measures of personality traits unrelated to empathy. The results showed that the EES scores were not significantly correlated with scores on personality measures, supporting its discriminant validity.
Overall, the SSEGID method is a reliable and valid method for generating social situations and measuring emotional empathy and has been successfully adapted to an Indian context.
