Work Attitude Survey Urdu
The Work Attitude Survey (WAS) was developed as a comprehensive instrument to assess the attitudes of employees towards their jobs, and an Urdu version of the survey was created to evaluate job attitudes of employees in Pakistan.
Translation process:
The original English version of the survey underwent a rigorous translation process to ensure an accurate and equivalent Urdu version. The survey was translated and back-translated by two independent bilingual professionals to minimize any translation issues. Once the translations were complete, a panel of experts reviewed and revised the survey, and a pilot study was conducted to confirm its equivalence with the English version.
Reliability:
The reliability of the Urdu version of the WAS was evaluated using Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient. The Urdu version of WAS was found to have good internal consistency with Cronbach’s Alpha coefficients ranging from 0.71 to 0.93 for different scales. These coefficients indicate very good reliability of the Urdu version of the WAS.
Validity:
The validity of the Urdu version of the WAS was examined using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The CFA results indicated that the Urdu version of the survey items loaded on the expected factors, and the fit indices obtained from the CFA (CFI=0.97, RMSEA=0.07) indicated a good fit for the three-factor model of organizational commitment. Additionally, the Urdu version of the WAS has good concurrent validity with other measures of job satisfaction and organizational commitment.
Scales Used:
The Urdu version of the WAS includes the same scales as the original English version: job satisfaction, organizational commitment, work values, internal work motivation, and organizational citizenship behavior.
Conclusion:
The Urdu version of the Work Attitude Survey is considered a reliable and valid instrument for assessing the job attitudes of employees in Pakistan. The translation process was comprehensive and rigorous to ensure an accurate and equivalent version of the survey in Urdu. The Urdu version showed good reliability and validity, and the scales used in the survey include several constructs that can be useful for management and HR professionals in assessing job attitudes of employees. The Urdu version of the survey can be useful in helping organizations understand the attitudes of their employees and make evidence-based decisions.
